One thing I keep seeing is people blaming AI tools when the real issue is the prompt. Most tools today are more capable than we give them credit for, but they need clearer input.
Here is a simple prompt structure I have been using that works well across ChatGPT, Claude, and other LLM-based tools:
Prompt structure:
- Define the role
- Define the task
- Define the constraints
- Define the output format
Example:
You are an experienced technical writer.
Your task is to rewrite the following paragraph so it is clear and concise for a non-technical audience.
Keep the tone professional and neutral.
Output the result as a single paragraph with no bullet points.
This structure sounds basic, but it dramatically improves consistency and reduces back-and-forth edits.
I have found that spending an extra 10–15 seconds clarifying expectations saves minutes of rework later.
💬 What prompt structure do you use most often?
Do you keep it loose, or do you follow a repeatable template like this?
